Teriyaki Sauce

Method One

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sake
  • 2 tbsp. mirin
  • 1 tbsp. white sugar

Directions

  1. Combine soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat, until sugar is dissolved
  2. Can be used immediately, or cooled and refrigerated.

Method Two

Ingredients

  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup sake
  • 1/2 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. fresh ginger, grated

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Heat until brown sugar is dissolved.

Method Three

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. dark sesame oil
  • 2 oranges, juiced
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. ginger, peeled and minced
  • 1/2 cup scallion, chopped
  • 2 tsp. garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp. sesame seeds, toasted

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, and refrigerate for up to one hour.

Note

  • May also be used as a marinade for chicken, shrimp, or beef.
