Quick Carne Asada Marinade

Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 lb. skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves (packed)
  • 2 Tb. canola oil, or other high-temperature oil
  • 2 Tb. fish sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tb. ancho chile powder
  • 3 garlic cloves (peeled)
  • 1 habanero pepper (stem removed), or other hot pepper
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. With a fork, pierce the skirt steak evenly on both sides.
  2. Place remaining ingredients in Vitamix and puree until smooth.
  3. Marinate steak for at least 15 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Once marinated, sear steak for 3 minutes per side.
  5. Allow to rest for 5 minutes.
