Shoyu Chicken

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs. chicken thighs, boneless
  • 3 cups soy sauce
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. spoon ginger, minced (1/2 tbsp. powdered ginger can be substituted)
  • 1/2 cup sake or beer
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. black pepper

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large pot.
  2. Bring contents of pot to a boil and lower to a simmer for duration of cooking process.
  3. Cook until chicken is tender; about 30—45 minutes.
